  • Welcome back and try-outs Season 1 - 2017-2018!Wed 6 Sep 2017Welcome back and try-outs Season 1 - 2017-2018!Read More

    Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to welcome all of you at the start of the 2017-2018 Year!

Last year we celebrated many outstanding national and international sporting achievements in football, athletics basketball, swimming, cricket and volleyball. But the one milestone achievement was the UAE Teen Sports & Fitness Awards runner up a position at the Best Youth developmental pathway. This achievement once again put our school on the map as one of the best sports schools in UAE

While we have had many successes in the past, I am confident we will achieve even better results in all of our programs this academic year.

As your children become involved in the sports program at DIA, they will experience some of the most rewarding moments in their life. We always strive to have our athletes reach their full potential in all areas of the sports experience - academically, socially, and through the competitions.

Student athletes are striving to succeed in two demanding areas simultaneously- academics and sports. They have the responsibility of developing and working toward an educational goal as well as training in their favourite sports. We encourage and assist student athletes in maintaining academic eligibility so they can continue to participate in sports.

Success does not occur overnight; it is an ongoing process. Commitment is a very important part of the students’ development in sports. They must understand that coming on the day of the event or game is not sufficient. Athletes need to understand that practice along with all the other obligations is necessary to achieve success.

Parent involvement, whether it be as a supportive fun, housing visiting athletes, or volunteering at concessions, is welcome to help in creating the community we wish to be a part of. At DIA volunteering is essential to the success of the programme and development of school spirit. We welcome all students and families to participate in sports at DIA. Involvement in sports will help strengthen relationships between the many families and cultural groups which exist in our school.

Please take some time to thoughtfully consider your participation in sports for the 2017-2018 year and complete the sign ups that will be displayed on the Sports Department notice board.

I would like to take this opportunity to give you some information about the seasons and upcoming sports tryouts and programmes.

    Dear parents,

We are excited to welcome everyone back and are looking forward to re-launching the School Sport Programme with our Sport EXPO week, running from Sunday 10th to Thursday 14th September.

This year there have been numerous developments that I believe will both increase opportunities for children to get active in school and broaden their experiences in sport.

To tell you all about our new programmes and initiatives I would like to invite you to join me for a sports information meeting on Sunday 10th September, 8:00am until 8:45am.  Once you have dropped off your child, please make your way to the sports block where you will be directed to our meeting room in the upper gym.

The main purpose of the meeting is to share important information with you regarding the following:

    • Internal School Sports Clubs.

    • External Sports Providers.

    • Sports Kit & Swimwear.

    • Sports Calendar, (Term 1)

After School on Sunday, and throughout the week, we will be joined by our external sports providers who will be running free taster sessions for all children.  On Sunday, from 2pm until 4pm, there will be a Sport EXPO in the Sports Hall. This is a great opportunity to meet the team of external providers, sign up for taster sessions and ask any questions you may have.  A timetable of the week can be found in the resources section of the School Communicator and on the School Sport Website.

I look forward to seeing you at the event,

    Yours in sport,

    Miss Oliver

  • Competitive Sports Kit LaunchWed 6 Sep 2017Competitive Sports Kit LaunchRead More

    Dear Parents,

    Competitive Sports Kit and Swimwear

We are delighted to announce that we have a new supplier for our competitive sports kit and swimwear.

We have partnered with Kukri, a leading manufacturer of high quality sports attire.  We have been working closely with Kukri during the summer to design and manufacture the new range of bespoke sportswear.

You will be able to order all the kit supplied by them online, if your child participates in a competitive team you will need to purchase the kit for them directly from Kukri via the new online shop (more information to follow).

At Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba, children will wear a multi sport kit when representing the School in most sports, such as football, touch rugby, cricket, rounders.  Some sports will require more specific attire for competition, such as contact rugby shirts, athletics singlets and Netball dresses.  When your child is selected for a team the PE staff will request that you purchase the relevant kit for the sport.  The School swim team also have a bespoke uniform  (in addition to swimsuit) for competition which will be optional.

House tops are also now available. We are increasing the number of house events and activities beyond just sports, with a range of activities being organised to include academic, creative and performing arts competitions.

Sportswear, swimwear and house tops will be available to purchase in mid to late October, A full price list and instructions for how to purchase this kit will be provided shortly.

There will be a pop up shop when the kit is ready at school for you to look at sizing and for help with the ordering.  Once you have order your kit it will be delivered to school within 2 days.

We hope that you agree this new kit will help to instil identity and pride amongst our competitive teams, leading to a successful sporting year.

If you have any queries regarding this please do not hesitate to contact us.
